Uncovering China's Digital Currency: Implications for Authoritarianism

This week, Yaya J. Fanusie coauthored a major report for the Center for a New American Security titled, “China’s Digital Currency: Adding Financial Data to Digital Authoritarianism.” The research assesses the geopolitical implications of the Chinese Communist Party’s digital currency project and uncovers documents illustrating that the People’s Bank of China is developing a platform where all user data will be accessible to the central bank.
